The overall purpose of the Provincial Governance Division is to empower Provincial Governments and local governance institutions to effectively deliver services at the provincial and community levels.

The Provincial Governance Division plays a key role in strengthening provincial leadership and gover­nance systems.

The Division also plays a key role in building leadership capacities of provincial governments to enable them to play an effective oversight role in public sector service delivery. Other core functions of the Division include overseeing provincial elections, capacity building of provincial governments, Review of the pdf Provincial Government Act 1997 (369 KB) and community governance.

The Division is headed by a Director who is supported by a Principle Governance Of­ficer and Capacity Development Officers.
