The Solomon Islands Government invests in a number of infrastructure projects in the provinces as part of its national policy objectives and as part of its National Development Strategy objectives in a bid to deliver key infrastructure to the provinces that are relevant to their priority areas for development.
These national infrastructure projects are implemented through the following programmes:
- Provincial Institutional Infrastructure Programme and its implementation in the provinces.
- Township Development Programme and its Implementation in selected pilot provinces.
These infrastructure projects are the result of the combined efforts of the Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening (MPGIS) together with the Ministry for Infrastructure Development and The Ministries of Development Planning and Aid Coordination (MDPAC) and the Ministry of Finance and Treasury (MoFT).
The national infrastructure projects compliment similar Government projects in the provinces such as those that are being implemented by the PGSP’s Provincial Capacity Development Fund (PCDF) Projects as well as those that are being implemented by Non Government parties including Donors.
